MORE ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Wise & Young is made up of percussionist Peter Wise and violinist Jeffrey Young. Mining classical, rock, jazz and electronic influences, the duo creates electronically augmented instrumental music developed through improvisation, collaboration, recording, and revision. Their unique process and sound infuses nuance and wonder into traditional instruments, found materials, pots and pans, and even eviscerated ’80s drum machines.
Jerusha Trotman is a New York City native violist and singer/songwriter currently pursuing music performance at Borough of Manhattan Community College. Her haunting, lush acoustic sounds feature viola and voice. Lyrical and visceral, her music tackles topics ranging from self-esteem and mental illness to romantic misadventures. Her new single "Imposter" is due out in July.
Alexander Turnquist is a guitarist/composer who uses the haunting sound of the 12-string acoustic guitar and unique finger-style approach to create mesmerizing harmonies. Emerging from the influence of players like Alex De Grassi and Kaki King, minimalist composers like Philip Glass and Steve Reich, and fellow innovators like Rhys Chatham and Sonic Youth, it is often hard to believe that the sounds generated by Turnquist are coming from a single instrument.
